June 2015

On July 9, AERA will host a live streamed Capitol Hill briefing on LGBTQ issues in education, including bullying and K-12 students, student achievement and educational attainment, the challenges conducting research, and recommendations for further research. In April, AERA published a report titled LGBTQ Issues in Education: Advancing a Research Agenda that examined these and other important areas.

Register Now:

  • Attend the event on-site (On-site registration is now closed)

George L. Wimberly, AERA Director of Professional Development, will present at the briefing. Wimberly served as editor and an author of the report. Joining him will be two other leading scholars and contributing authors—Dorothy L. Espelage, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and Lindsey Wilkinson, Portland State University. Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA) has been invited to provide welcoming remarks and AERA Executive Director Felice J. Levine will offer closing comments. Approximately 30 minutes will be set aside for Q&A with onsite and live stream attendees.

The event—both on site and online—is open to the public at no cost.

The report is available for order on the AERA website at a discount to AERA members.
