Dear AERA Members,
One of my colleagues recently asked me why I wanted to become the president of AERA. My response was one that many of us share—the unparalleled opportunity to continue working on improving the quality of education research and communicating its importance for policy, practice, and reform. In the coming months, one of my responsibilities is to make appointments to a number of AERA standing and awards committees which provide leadership and expertise to our Association. It is imperative that the diverse substantive and methodological talents and skills of our members be drawn in and their voices heard in these committees. I hope that this announcement inspires many of you to participate in the life of the Association by nominating colleagues or yourselves to serve on the AERA committees listed below.

Accept the challenge and become actively involved by sending to me ([email protected]) the name of the candidate, the committee on which the individual is willing to serve, and a one-page biographical vitae. I look forward to hearing from you as we work to raise public interest and understanding of the value and contributions of education research.
Thanks for your support,
Barbara Schneider AERA President-Elect
