New Workshop and Book of Interest for Holistic Education SIG Members

Happy new year to you all!!
We have some exciting news of our work in core reflection to share, and we are hoping that you might help us disseminate this news in the next Holistic SIG newsletter. Would that be possible? If you are new to the phrase 'core reflection,' it refers to a strength-based approach to change in education. The goals and framework of core reflection are very much about developing the whole person and engaging teachers and students at the deepest levels. Below is news about core reflection that we feel may be of interest to the members of the Holistic Education SIG.

1. We have now finalized plans for a Core Reflection workshop in San Francisco on April 25 & 26, 2013. It will be held at the San Francisco Zen Center. The cost will be $325 for the two days. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please have them get in touch with Fred Korthagen ([email protected]), Younghee Kim ([email protected]), or William Greene ([email protected]). The American Educational Research Association's (AERA) annual conference begins the next day, Saturday, April 27th. The workshop is shaping up to be a very international group!

In other news…
2. We are happy to announce the publication of the first book on Core Reflection in English!
It has a 2013 imprint and is available now. We think it will be a great source of inspiration and personal growth for anyone in education. The full reference is:

Korthagen, F.A.J., Kim, Y.M., & Greene, W.L. (Eds.) (2013). Teaching and Learning from Within: A Core Reflection Approach to Quality and Inspiration in Education. New York/London: Routledge.

The book cover is attached.
For more information about the book, the workshop, and Core Reflection, see www.korthagen.nl

Thank you!

Much joy and warmest affection to you all,
Fred, Younghee, and William
