AERA Annual Meeting, SEL SIG Highlights for 2016

  • The SEL SIG Business Meeting will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 6:15-8:15 in the Convention Center, Level Two, Room 201. In honor of the centennial celebration, we will hear from preeminent SEL scholars, both early career and veteran. Expect to gain insight into cutting-edge SEL developments and to engage in some thoughtful dialogue about future directions in SEL research, translation, and application. Come hungry, because we have a reception planned as wella perfect opportunity to catch up with old colleagues and meet new ones. You never know what new connections and collaborations you might form. The business meeting is open to everyone, so spread the word!
  • The SEL SIG conference program offers a selection of paper, roundtable, and poster presentations for a range of SEL interests, most of which will be held in the Convention Center. Topics range across developmental stages, interventions, measurement, and more! Plan your travel time to benefit from the full array of scheduled activities. See the full schedule for SEL SIG sessions starting on page 7 of this newsletter!
  • The SEL Practitioners Forum will be held on Sunday, April 10th from 6:30 to 8:00 at the Convention Center, Level One, Room 103B. This is an interactive event where SEL practitioners from around the world come together to share ideas and best practices, and support each other's work. You will have an opportunity to discuss the "how to's" of SEL implementation and program design/development. This is a great event to share the work you are doing and learn from others!

  • Graduate students, please join us for our SEL SIG graduate student gathering at AERA! Don't miss this unique opportunity to have one-on-one face time with established SEL researchers and practitioners. Ask questions, share ideas, and connect! We are meeting in the convention center outside Room 143A, and heading to City Tap House at 4:20pm. Please contact Deirdre Katz ([email protected]) or Essie Sutton ([email protected]) if you have any questions. Looking forward to seeing you there!
When: Sunday April 10th, 4:30-6pm Where: City Tap House, 901 9th Street (just two blocks south of the convention center).
