Recent legal, social, and policy shifts in support of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people are causing educators and education researchers to address LGBTQ issues with a new sense of legitimacy and urgency.

The new AERA report, LGBTQ Issues in Education: Advancing a Research Agenda, and related July 9, 2015, Capitol Hill briefing, are part of AERA's effort to bring rigorous and relevant knowledge to bear on this important issue.
