Advice for the Aspiring Biographer

In the mid-1990s, the University of South Carolina’s Museum of Education began collecting statements from distinguished American biographers for an on-site exhibition, “Advice for the Aspiring Biographer.”  The exhibition was quite well received and inspired the 1998 collected edition, Writing Educational Biography. The Museum has now created a permanent web exhibition of the statements from many of these biographers, with additional statements to be added as author permissions are received. Please visit the Museum's Advice for the Aspiring Biographer web exhibition.

The Museum of Education maintains this website for members of the AERA Biographical and Documentary Research Special Interest Group and for Museum visitors’ information and education only. All information contained in the “Advice for Aspiring Biographers” exhibition is protected by authors' copyrights and may not be used without their written consent. Information from these statements may be used for personal, non-commercial use only, provided all references to authors' copyrights are preserved.
