Dr. David C. Berliner has established an exceptional record of publicly communicating research findings. He is a prolific and well-regarded scholar, with many highly cited books and journal articles on important topics. Beyond communicating with education researchers, Berliner has clearly and effectively communicated research results to the teaching community and the general public through textbooks used in programs that prepare future teachers and administrators; articles in magazines targeted to practicing educators; books on educational policy aimed at educators and noneducators; presentations to practitioners and general audiences; and blogs and popular media. Dr. Berliner’s record exemplifies engaged scholarship and public communication of research.
The Outstanding Public Communication of Education Research Award is presented to honor scholars who are exemplary in their capacity to communicate the importance of education research to the broad public, including education communities.
